SCRIPTURE PRAYER STRATEGY FOR TRUE REPENTANCE AND RESTITUTION

REPENT AND BELIEVE IS THE TRUE GOSPEL

Mark 1:14-15 Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel." NKJV

REPENT AND RECEIVE JESUS AS LORD AS LORD - NOT JUST HEAVEN

John 1:12-13 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. NKJV

REPENTANCE WITHOUT REGRET – NOT JUST REMORSE

2 Cor 7:9-10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death. NASU

95% OF THOSE WHO PRAY - DON’T SEEM TO BE NEW CREATURES

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. KJV

CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART – FLESH TO THE CROSS

Gal 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. KJV

BAD FRUIT = BAD ROOTS (SEE THE CROSS WALK PRAYER)

Matt 7:15-16 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? KJV

OFFENDED - BETRAYALS - HATRED - DECEPTION

Matt 24:10-12 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. NKJV

REPENT = RECONCILE WITH MAN AND WITH GOD

Matt 5:23-24 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

REMORSE – BLAMES – PEOPLE PLEASING – FEAR OF MAN – EXCUSES TO DISOBEY

1 Sam 13:11-13 And Samuel said, "What have you done?" Saul said, "When I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that you did not come within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered together at Michmash, …12 then I said, 'The Philistines will now come down on me at Gilgal, and I have not made supplication to the LORD.' Therefore I felt compelled, and offered a burnt offering." 13 And Samuel said to Saul, "You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which He commanded you. For now the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. 14 But now your kingdom shall not continue. The LORD has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the LORD has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the LORD commanded you." NKJV

UNDERSTANDS GOD’S KINDNESS AND HOW WE HURT OTHERS

Rom 2:4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance? NIV

SAULISH: DENIES – MINIMIZES – COMPROMISES – RATIONALIZES – AVOIDS

1 Sam 15:20-23 "But I did obey the LORD," Saul said. "I went on the mission the LORD assigned me. I completely destroyed the Amalekites and brought back Agag their king. 21 The soldiers took sheep and cattle from the plunder, the best of what was devoted to God, in order to sacrifice them to the LORD your God at Gilgal." 22 But Samuel replied:

"Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king." NIV

DAVID: DELAYED BUT CONTRITE – GRIEVES – TURNS FROM SIN - OBEYS

2 Sam 12:5-12, 15, 18 So David's anger was greatly aroused against the man, and he said to Nathan, "As the LORD lives, the man who has done this shall surely die! 6 And he shall restore fourfold for the lamb, because he did this thing and because he had no pity." 7 Then Nathan said to David, "You are the man! … 9 Why have you despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in His sight? … 10 Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.' 11 Thus says the LORD: 'Behold, I will raise up adversity against you from your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. 12 For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun.'" 15 And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bore to David, and it became ill. 18 Then on the seventh day it came to pass that the child died.

NOT DEMANDING RETRIBUTION BUT PRAYING RESTORATION / RECONCILIATION

Luke 23:34 Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."

NEW TESTAMENT RESTITUTION: REBUILDS TRUST

Luke 19:8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold."

RESTITUTION = PAY BACK 1.2, 2-4, or 7 TIMES AS MUCH

Ex 22:1-4 22:1 "If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it, he must pay back five head of cattle for the ox and four sheep for the sheep. 2 "If a thief is caught breaking in and is struck so that he dies, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed; 3 but if it happens after sunrise, he is guilty of bloodshed. "A thief must certainly make restitution, but if he has nothing, he must be sold to pay for his theft. 4 "If the stolen animal is found alive in his possession--whether ox or donkey or sheep--he must pay back double………. NIV

ADULTERERS PAY THE BRIDAL PRICE X 7 !!!

Prov 6:29-32 So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife; Whoever touches her shall not be innocent. 30 People do not despise a thief. If he steals to satisfy himself when he is starving.

31 Yet when he is found, he must restore sevenfold; He may have to give up all the substance of his house. 32 Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; He who does so destroys his own soul. NKJV

TODAY CHRISTIANS EXPECT GOD’S TOLERANCE + BLESSING + CARNALITY

Matt 7:13-16, 19-23 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. 15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? … 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. 21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers! ' NIV

ACCEPTS THE TRUTH – FEELS THE HURT – FACES CONSEQUENCES – TURNS 180

Ps 51:16-17 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart -- These, O God, You will not despise. NKJV

IF YOU REPENT – YOU CAN EXPECT SIGNS, MIRACLES AND WONDERS

Matt 11:20-21 Then He began to rebuke the cities in which most of His mighty works had been done, because they did not repent: NKJV

… EXPECT SPIRITUAL POWER AND AUTHORITY

Mark 6:12-13 So they went out and preached that people should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them. NKJV

… EXPECT TO BE FORGIVEN

Luke 17:3-4 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4 And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, 'I repent,' you shall forgive him." NKJV

… EXPECT TO BE FULL OF THE SPIRIT

Acts 2:38-39 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. NKJV

… EXPECT REFRESHING

Acts 3:19-20 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, NKJV

… FREEDOM FROM BITTERNESS Acts 8:22-23 Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. 23 For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity." NKJV

… EXPECT THAT FIRST LOVE INTIMACY

Rev 2:4-6 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place -- unless you repent. NKJV

REPENT OF ADULTERY, SORCERIES, MURDER, IMMORALITY AND THEFT

Rev 9:20-21 But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. 21 And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts. NKJV

CHOOSE TO LOVE GOD WITH ALL MY HEART, SOUL, MIND AND BODY

Matt 22:37-40 Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." NKJV

RECEIVE THE CHASTENING OF THE LORD GLADLY

Heb 12:4-6 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:

"My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; 6 For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives." NKJV

TAKE FLESH TO THE CROSS FOR JESUS TO CRUCIFY

Gal 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. NKJV

REPENT OF SPEAKING EVIL AND JUDGING OTHERS

James 4:11-12 Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. 12 There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another? NKJV

EXPECT GOD’S JUDGMENT IF I JUDGE OTHERS WITH CONDEMNATION
Rom 2:1-2 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2 Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. NIV

WHILE WE WERE ENEMIES, HE TOOK OUR SIN – GAVE US HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS

2 Cor 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. NKJV

FAITH WITHOUT WORKS ISN’T

James 2:20-22 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? NKJV

BLESSING AND CURSING OUT OF THE SAME MOUTH

James 3:10-12 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. 11 Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? NKJV

NOT TO LOVE THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD

1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. NKJV

LOVE THE PRAISE OF MEN AND PHARISEES

John 12:42-43 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. NKJV

PRESENT YOUR BODY A LIVING SACRIFICE – HOLY – ACCEPTABLE - SERVICE

Rom 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

NOT CONFORMED – TRANSFORMED – RENEWED – PROVING GOD’S WILL

2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. NKJV

PREACH ANOTHER GOSPEL AND BE CURSED

Gal 1:6-9 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. NKJV

NOT MAN’S TRADITION – NOT FOR ITCHING EARS – BUT REVELATION

Gal 1:11-12 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. NKJV

GENTLY TEACHING, PATIENT, HUMBLY CORRECTING

2 Tim 2:24-26 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. NKJV

HEART OF A MINISTER: TO RESTORE IN GENTLENESS, BEARING THEIR BURDEN

Gal 6:1-2 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. 2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. NKJV
